NZ’s Student Marxist/Muslim Alliance

Students for Justice in Palestine, a radical group active at Auckland and Waikato universities has pushed the “Israeli Apartheid” slogan for some time.

Led by Waikato University academic Zaeem Baksh, SJP is the student wing of the Marxist/Muslim alliance.

The organisation compromises a mixture of Islamic students and local Marxists and radicals.

Kane Forbes, an Auckland University Socialist Worker activist, helped Baksh re-launch the organisation in 2000.

Omar Hamed, a young Palestinian born Marxist and founder of Radical Youth is currently a prominent member of the Auckland group.

The group’s most famous member however is undoubtedly Harmeet Singh Sooden.

Sooden was suggested as a leader for Auckland SJP in 2005, but this was scrapped when he was kidnapped in Iraq in late 2005, while volunteering for the leftist Christian Peacemaker organisation.

The incident was international news until his release, by Western alliance forces after four months captivity in March 2006.

Ironic that that an anti-Israeli radical like Sooden should nearly lose his life at the hands of Israels sworn enemies.

  1. Trev, you may want to take a look at this citation from Breaking From the KGB by Maurice Shainberg on why the far left international hates Israel:

To think that this nation, which we helped set up to guarantee freedom for millions of Jews, to build her economy and technology, prestige and morale-to think that this ungrateful nation would stab us in the back.

Under our protection, Israel would have become the only major power in the Middle East, with the Suez Canal in its hands. But no-they have forgotten their lamentable history, the Spanish liquidation of three and a half million Jews, the Russian Czarist and Ukranian pogroms against Jews, Hitler’s gas chambers and ovens, and the world-wide anti-Semitism that has held them back for centuries.

The leaders of the international proletariat wanted to extend their helping hands to this small nation, but they have chosen to join with the greedy capitalists. Therese ingrates want to oppose us who fought and defeated Hitler’s forces for the world’s survival. They haven’t analyzed their history; they have leanred nothing from it. They don’t realize that the capitalists will only bring only death and disintegration to the Jewish nation.

We cannot tolerate such treachery. We are now going to seek a relationship with the Arab nations. We are sending a group of political scientists to Egypt to see what can be done. The Middle East is an important strategic location for the expansion of Communism.

The Suez Canal is a major communications link between East and West. We can’t afford to give it up. It is essential to our aims.

We made a big mistake thinking that the untrustworthy Jews would be our allies. We will destroy Israel; that will be our answer to their betrayal. They are now our major obstacle to the planting of Communism in the Middle East. (pg. 237), From Breaking From the KGB.

The “apartheid” card is nothing more than a propaganda ploy to promote the real apartheid of Israeli Jews at the hands by their radicalized neighbors.

  2. I have also detailed of an Iraqi Communist insurgent group. The name I think was called the Iraqi Army Revolutionary Resistance, or something similar on those lines.

The Iraqi Communist Party I for one do not trust to be involved in the Iraqi government as it is closely associating itself with former Baathists and Iranian operatives in the Shiite sect of Iraq.

With this Marxist-“Muslim” Alliance, I believe that Communist client states such as Cuba are openly training these “Islamic”/”al-Qaedish” insurgents. Why else would the insurgencies in Iraq and Afghanistan have an ironic resemblence to the insurgency in Vietnam? In recent days, the dictator of Communist Vietnam met openly with Fidel Castro, and Vietnam has close relations with Iran and Syria, the two states in the Middle East that are fueling the “Islamic”/”al-Qaedish” insurgencies in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Iranian weapons have also fallen into the hands of the Taliban and other insurgents in Afghanistan, and I certainly believe that Osama bin Laden or any of his operatives might be protected by “former” Communist blocs, or have his operatives be in Iran to receive those Iranian-made weapons.

  3. Quite right Trev. Very ironic that the CPT members were ultimately rescued by the very forces they had entered Iraq to oppose!
