At last someone cares about national sovereignty.
Newly empowered Republican lawmakers are taking their first shots at the United Nations, depicting it as bloated and ineffective as they seek to cut U.S. funding for the world body.
On Tuesday, a House of Representatives panel aired criticisms of the U.N. at a briefing expected to prescribe congressional action.
Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs committee, is seeking cuts and has introduced a bill intended to pressure the United Nations to change the way it operates and to make dues voluntary. She also is promising investigations into possible corruption and mismanagement.
Let’s hope this is only the first step in completely de-funding this boil on the bum of humanity.

Google: Ayn Rand Lexicon.Open the first one, click on the letter "U" from the alphabet at the top of window, then click on the heading "United Nations" and read the Lexicon definition. Enough said.
Saw something on Fox this week where a reference was made to the UNDP as being a most covert and secretive operation. This is, of course, headed up by our own Helen Clark.
To Ileana Ros Lehtinen Please don't stop there lets get out of the UN and use that money to help bring down the U.S deficet. Thank you and keep up the great work.
First, LarryG, it would make perfect sense that two legal immigrants from Cuba — who fully understand the dangers of Marxism and Socialism — put us back on track.
Second, as far as the UN is concerned, it isn't just a NYC and money issue. LOOK UP AGENDA 21 AND THE ICLEI. Abingdon, VA is just ONE community that has — I hope through naivete — signed on to a UN-rooted program for so-called "sustainable development." It's a program that dictates urban development, wildlife land, waters, etc. It seeks to eliminate or severely limit private property because it leads to — and I quote from the Preamble of Agenda 21 — "social injustice." That's private ownership of land they're talking about.
Clinton signed onto Agenda 21 via Executive Order — it's a "treaty" of sorts that undermines sovereignty of states and has never been ratified by the Senate.
PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS "CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER."
In 1964, G. Edward Griffin published a book: THE FEARFUL MASTER, A Second Look at the United Nations. Read this book and discover the founders and history behind the communist inspired U.N.
OK, let me get this straight. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is promising investigations into POSSIBLE corruption and mismanagement at the UN?????
Move the UN to Russia. It is a hotbox of spies and the U.S. woulod be better off without it here. Decrease our funding to 1/192 of the total cost (192 members). Reaffirm that the constitution takes prescedence over international agreements and treaties.
Man oh Man,Florida is starting to look like a hotbed of winners and two of them are cubans. Wouldn't it be weird if Cubans restored America to it's former Patriotic Glory?
The United Nations organization is a secualar humanist institution.
Secular humanism is the excrement of marxism and the foundation of communism.
The UN Charter is an almost carbon copy of the USSR Constitution.
The UN is anti-thetical to Americanism. Having the US in the Un is like putting a black man in the Ku Klux Klan. It exists to abolish the USA.
Let's get the U.N. out of the U.S. and the U.S. out of the U.N.!
Let's move the UN to Haiti. 1) No more tin pan dictators ("diplomats") roaming around New York; 2) Frees up expensive land in New York; 3) Boosts the economy of Haiti; 4) "Diplomats" can see first hand how ineffectual the UN really is.
The U.N. is the epitome of a bureaucracy that exists for its own sake and nothing else. It should be completely de-funded and kicked out of New York.
On the other hand, it is a symbol of fecklessness and corruption to which all government-lovers should pay careful attention.
So, maybe like the Holocaust Museum, it serves a purpose, macabre as it is.
We must get UNESCO out of our schools as well.
http://www.ibo.org is making inroads and infusing the UN agenda into our students' minds.
