Building Islamic Bloc

From Islamic Republic News Agency

Iran’s Visiting Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi in a meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Jakarta proposed establishment of an Islamic bloc to preserve Muslims’ rights in the world.

In the meeting, Shahroudi said Europeans have a union while Islamic countries are more in number and also have more commonalities, so the big Muslim countries like Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt can take the lead to establish an Islamic bloc.

Referring to the existing problems in the Islamic world, which have been imposed by the world arrogance on Muslims, the ayatollah asked the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to take some practical steps for removing these problems.

President Yudhoyono welcomed the proposal and said, “I will ask Justice minister to work on this proposal.”

The Indonesian president referred to his four times negotiations with President Ahmadinejad and said, “We think alike.”

“If Islamic countries get united, many of the Islamic world problems could be solved,” Yudhoyono added.

He expressed pleasure over meeting between President Ahmadinejad and Saudi King Abdullah and said by such efforts problems can be solved.

The Iranian delegation had a 3-day visit to Malaysia before arriving in Indonesia.

  1. Certainly no major surprise there. Look out for more visits of the leadership of Moscow and Beijing to those regions of the world.
