Exclusive!!! NSA Leaks Journalist Glenn Greenwald, Addressed a Marxist-Leninist Conference

Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist who helped Edward Snowden launch the NSA leaks scandal, addressed a radical Marxist-Leninist conference in 2011.

Greenwald spoke at the International Socialist Organization’s Socialism 2011 conference, which was held July 1-4, 2011 in Chicago.

Glenn Greenwald gave a keynote address on “Civil liberties under Obama.”

Greenwald also ended the evening of July 3, as part of a plenary entitled “Revolution and imperialism in the Middle East” with Beesan Kassab, Chicago based pro-Palestine activist Ali Abunimah, Mostafa Omar and International Socialists leader Ahmed Shawki.

Before Greenwald and comrades started the plenary, the crowd warmed at the evening with a little chanting.

ISO is one of America’s main Trotskyist/Marxist-Leninist parties.

Their orientation can be seen from some of the other plenaries on offer, such as “Lenin and the vanguard party,” “Marxism and the state,” “Marxism, war, and imperialism,” “Russia’s revolutionary process, 1905–1917,” “Trotsky’s theory of permanent revolution,” “Marxism and the future socialist society,” “The politics of International Socialism” and  “Enemies in blue: The police under capitalism.”

As major Israel haters, the International Socialists also organized several plenaries on the Middle East and Palestine, including  “Israel: Watchdog of imperialism,” “Standing up to Islamophobia,” “The myths of Zionism,” “How can Palestinian liberation be achieved?,” “The future of the Middle East revolutions,” “Imperialism and revolution in Libya, Syria, and beyond,” “Palestine and the Arab Spring Boycott, divestment, sanctions” and “The global struggle for Palestinian rights.”

That Greenwald was willing to address a gathering of some of the most revolutionary, anti-American elements in the country speaks volumes about his personal views.

So Glenn Greenwald, the man who leaked America’s vital national security secrets on a massive scale, may not be the objective, impartial journalist he portrays himself to be.

The International Socialists and their allies want to bring America to its knees.

Glenn Greenwald it seems, may well be in agreement with that agenda.

Hero or traitor?

  1. “Exclusive!!! NSA Leaks Journalist Glenn Greenwald, Addressed a Marxist-Leninist Conference”

Is this suppose to make NSA overreach and the Security Surveillance Police State all better?

Or it is just another, “LOOK SQUIRREL!”?

  2. I am confused: is Greenwald a pinko-commie-Constitution-hating Islamofascist or is Obama, the President actively seeking to arrest and discredit Greenwald and arrest his source for these leaks? Surely they can’t both be hellbent on taking away our precious freedom and then consigning us to die under the oppressive jackboot of the dictatorship of the proletariat, seeing as they appear to be mortal enemies right now, can they? Please clarify.

  3. I do not see how this relates to the violation of 4th US Constitutional Amendment evinced in the leaked documents of Snowden.

  4. Mccarthyism is sadly back/crazy person from Colorado.

I’m well aware of the Trotsky/Stalin split.

Both sides of that split are still Marxist-Leninist, just as both sides of the Catholic/Protestant split are still Christian.

CPUSA is of course against those things you mention, because they are an impediment to their revolutionary plans.

If the ever got power they would be as bad as their North Korean comrades.

I visited Joe McCarthy’s grave in Appleton Wisconsin – a much under appreciated American.

  5. What a horrible red-scare article. Some points to consider:

This is awful journalism and part of a BS Mcarthyist smear campaign. Who cares where he spoke. The story speaks for itself. You are a hack journalist and a patsy of the state pretending to produce journalism

Integrity, openness and Honesty don’t appear to be principles that serve you well in your life Trevor. More’s the pity. You give your profession a bad name. How about doing ethics for beginners as a place to recover yourself:-)

Greenwald is not a member of the International Socialist Organization. Are you an ‘investigative journalist’ without a phone or basic research skills?

Greenwald and Snowden are standing up for the good old-fashioned ideal of American liberty and have the support of the majority of the US population.

I see you’re in a race against Ted Cruz for who can do the best “Tailgunner” Joe McCarthy impression. Good job!!

What is this…not able to kill the message..so shoot the messenger?

    1) Neither the International Socialist Organization nor the Center for Economic Research and Social Change are Marxist-Leninist organizations. If you don’t understand the Stalinist/Trotskyist split then you, at the very least, need to do a few more minutes of research before publishing something this embarrassing.

    2) Greenwald is not a member of the ISO, nor is he a socialist. He does work with libertarian organizations such as the Cato Institute as well.

    3) I hope you appreciate the irony that even Marxist-Leninist groups like CPUSA are opposed dragnet government surveillance, ‘papers, please’ laws, secret legal interpretations, indefinite detentions and executions without trials while the self-proclaimed defenders of the American traditions of Liberty have devolved to the same level of authoritarian hackdom that George Orwell (who was an avowed socialist btw) so scathingly parodied in 1984.

WHO GIVES A FUCK. DO SOME REAL JOURNALISM

  6. With everyone from the Tea Party drooling over Snowden and Greenwald, I am starting to question if they are indeed Marxist-Leninist Communist too! Both want to destroy America and establish their own form of government. I am very Leary of the Tea Party now since they are siding with these 2 kooks.

  7. I didn’t know the ISO existed, what a bunch of ugly characters.

Let’s join the Tea Party and march on DC, show our support for the Constitution.

  8. So what. For the past five years Glenn Greenwald has been vilified by the far-left kool-aid drinking Obama supporters because his unrelenting coverage of Obama’s civil liberties abuses. Real Americans will defend the rights of individuals like Greenwald to speak freely before any group that wants to hear them speak. People should only be criticized if they alter the expression of their values and beliefs based on the audience they are appearing before. Greenwald has been consistent in his defense of civil liberties against right-wing and left-wing leaders and governments.

  9. Yes ChristCrusader. A message can be valuable regardless of the character of the messenger. However as we are never in possession of all the facts, the messengers hidden agenda or allegiances can often bee very important. More important even than the message. That is the case in this instance. in my opinion. Greenwald hates America. That is something to take into account when reading his stories.

  10. To answer your ending question: if a crime is being committed, does a 911 caller’s politics, background, or world view matter? I can appreciate the outing of govt’s overreach without endorsing the whistleblower’s agenda, can’t I?

Simultaneously, I appreciate your article detailing these peoples’ agenda, so I can consider things in perspective. Thank you so much.

  11. This Snowden guy is giving government secrets to Communist China. If you think that is good then I don’t understand you Joshua.

  12. Sorry, how is leaking this a matter of national security? The only people it was secured from was us. People are too stupid to see that by attacking Greenwald and Snowden, you’re only attacking the messengers and not the perpetrators. What they (and all whistleblowers) are doing is helping us see how truly f*cked we are and yet, the country goes on an all out manhunt for the GOOD GUYS!!!!! Its like watching a terrible movie that never ends…

    1. I agree. I also believe that Mr. Snowden has remained free because he kept evidence that will no doubt be released upon his detainment or disappearance. It wouldn’t surprise me to find that he could blow the lid off all of the scandals that, so far, the Administration has kept at bay through lies and non-truth. For instance, the deputy whatever, that testified before Congress, responded to the question about whether the NSA can capture all of the citizens emails and phone conversations for use however they decide to use it “I couldn’t do that”. He didn’t respond that Mr. Snowden or others with his technical expertise couldn’t do that.
I still believe that Mr. Snowden is a patriot. He may have to do some time for disobeying his oath but if all was fair, so would hundreds of IRS, DOJ, HHS, SEC, etc employees that have done the same.

    1. Trevor – Sorry, I misread your headline. I don’t want to minimize your exclusive, as I admire your journalistic skill. But I have a son-in-law who’s a member of ISO, and if he is any indication, ISO is a group of severely immature spoiled brats who don’t have the ability to throw a decent temper tantrum, let alone overthrow the country.

    2. Just want to mention that until Angela’s comment and your response, I was thinking the same as Angela. I read the title as “NSA (subject)” and then “leaks (verb)”. Until recently, I’ve gotten most of my “news” from watching fox news. I no longer have TV service, so I’m struggling to find new news sources, that give me variety of information, and don’t take me hours to find out what I need/want to know. I’m playing catch-up to learn about all the stuff that has happened over the past 2 weeks with no TV, and no internet for those 2 weeks either. So I know very little info about the story, and that impacted how I read your title.
Talk about information overload! I don’t even recognize my country anymore! Ugh!

  13. The hypocritical leftists feed at the trough of capitalism yet never live in a collective–far from it. Creeps! Nice designer haircut and shirt, Glenn.
