Iran and China’s "Common Enemy"

From Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Sunday stressed that expansion of Tehran-Beijing relations would benefit both nations.

While receiving the credentials of the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Tehran, Xie Xiaoyan, the Iranian president said, “Such relations will also benefit global peace and security.

He urged the two governments “to make use of the existing potentials in both states to help further expand bilateral cooperation”.

Referring to bright prospect of Tehran-Beijing ties, he said, “The two great nations enjoy rich culture and history.”

“The common enemies of the two nations are against progress and development of both Tehran and Beijing,” President Ahmadinejad noted, urging the two nations to be vigilant and seize all the existing opportunities.

The Chinese ambassador, for his part, said, “The two countries share identical views regarding several regional and international issues.” Such an approach would pave the way for further expansion of bilateral relations, he added.

  1. I fear the 2008 elections in the U.S., the seemingly more right-wing side on the Republicans are heavily divided more so than the Democrats. Five-way divide for the major front-runners, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson.

I also fear that Ron Paul supporters who go even further than just agreeing him on economics are also dividing the right in the effort that the right-wing will not be able to take the White House in 2008.

While the Left seems to be more united with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama being the two main front-runners while John Edwards may just be a minor front runner candidate. I just fear that disaster might be on America’s road map in 2008 with the right heavily divided and also even supposedly right-wing groups weaken by pushing “non-interventionist” leanings sounding similar what MoveOn.org and other Leftist groups sound like.

If the far left gain victory in 2008 elections, I fear the Grim Reaper might be come a knocking on the right-wing movement’s door. We have already seen this happened in Australia with the victory of Kevin Rudd which the Australian Communist Party has openly praised his victory against the seemingly more right-wing John Howard.

  2. Thanks for the backgrounder MAH-

2008 is going to be a big year with the US, Russian and NZ elections.

Let’s hope the good guys win the first and the third.

    Happy Channukah!

  3. In an added note, I should also mention that members of the PLO-trained Hezbollah terrorist group have sent delegations to Iran and also to Syria to greet the leadership and thank them for supporting and arming them during the Lebanon-Israeli 2006 war.

Hezbollah is actually the front group for the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). PLO commandos during the Lebanese Civil War were responsible for training these early Hezbollah terrorists when they were just militia groups targeting their Christian counterparts.

Hezbollah terrorists gained ground in Lebanon during the 1980’s with the Beruit bombings which massacred over 200 U.S. soldiers and was organized also on the part of Iran which became under the control of the Revolutionary Guard whose leadership were derived from Tudeh Party members who “renounced” Communism while the more openly Communist members of the Tudeh Party went into exile to control the “opposition” movement of Iran with even such groups such as the People’s Mujahadin of Iran (MEK) being a leader of this faux opposition movement but MEK still has PLO ties in spite of it also being the same group exposing Iran’s nuclear program.
