Nicaragua and North Korea, Comrades Again

“Non-communist” Nicaragua has recently re-established doplomatic relations with Russia and North Korea.

Pyongyang, May 25 President Kim Il Sung had given material and mental support, solidarity and assistance to us, and this greatly contributed to the victory of the Sandinist revolution.

Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega Saavedra said this when meeting with the DPRK ambassador to Nicaragua.

The DPRK’s access to deterrent for self-defence is a clear manifestation of the independent stand and this greatly encourages us, he noted, stressing that the Songun policy of Kim Jong Il is very just.

Expressing support and solidarity with the Korean people in the struggle to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country without interference of foreign forces under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, he affirmed the will to further develop the friendly relations between the two countries and strengthen cooperation in the international arena.

  1. It’s certainly quite sad to see Latin America becoming a Stalinist-Maoist style gulag as how Ortega cozies up to the likes of Kim Jong-Il.
