Update On My Husband’s Cancer Treatment

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton | NoisyRoom.net

Since the last update, we have been on a roller coaster of events concerning Garry’s cancer and his treatment. One day it is good, the next… not so much.

He has had his chemo slowed down and reduced by 25 percent because of the adverse effects on his health. It totally wiped out his immune system – white and red blood cells hit rock bottom. His hair is falling out and we are buying hats that he loves to compensate.

We have spent two separate days over the last few weeks getting him blood transfusions for severe anemia. Each time, we are at the hospital for eight to ten hours but he’s much better afterward. Last time, he was so weak when we got to the hospital, he had to use a wheelchair.

He wanted to get out and go to the grocery store a couple of days ago, so I said yes. Unfortunately, he dropped a can and could not get back up so we had to use a wheelchair to get him to the car. That was the day before yesterday. He has totally recovered from that episode.

He started round two of five chemo treatments yesterday and today he seems to be doing well. Still pretty much bedridden most of the time but more alert, hungry and talkative. Garry lost 17 pounds in one week. Yesterday, he gained a pound back… so it was Snoopy Dance time.

After the next three chemo treatments, there will be a radiation procedure called a CyberKnife that will target the tumor in his lung. Then surgery for the rectal tumor. I am certain Garry can beat this… the finances are causing me concern but it is worth every penny to save his life.

If you want to help Garry out, one of our daughters put up a GoFundMe page and we are just over halfway to our goal. You can donate here. You can also donate on PayPal. My email there is terresa@tmonroe.com. If you would like to donate some other way, email me at terresa@noisyroom.net and I’ll send instructions.

Prayers are always appreciated and please pass this along to others on social media. As you know, I was banned on Facebook for being the editor of Right Wing News so I can’t post this there. It would be greatly appreciated.

Garry is winning his fight one step and one day at a time. He is beyond words and so am I in thanking all of you.
