New Ecuadorean president Rafael Correa, has wasted no time in aligning himself with the Latin American Marxist power bloc. He has copied Chavez’s “Socialism for the 21st century” phrase and openly praised Castro and Cuba.
Translated from Venezuela website Apporrea.org Hat Tip Once Upon a Time in the West
The elect president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, proclaimed last Sunday the sprouting of a “”, coining the name whereupon the Venezuelan agent chief executive, Hugo Chévez, baptized the new phase of his bolivarian revolution.
From the Cuban newspaper Granma
QUITO, January 14.—The president-elect of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, sent greetings to President Fidel Castro and wished him a speedy recovery, at the end of a meeting with Carlos Lage, vice president of the Cuban Council of State.
Correa talked to Cuban journalists at the end of his meeting with the Cuban vice president and affirmed: “Cuba and all of Latin America are a single nation. The hour has come to seek our shared destiny.”
“steve the not so nice guy”,
Get a life and grow up you uneducated twit.
Well……’f I ain’t keepin’ you charged and battle ready, blow me down Mah…….I’ll dine with George and Laura !
Ya all be eyes-peeled lookin’ for the day when them little tin ones grows to be big fat real ones !
And Man !!! Will we have a fight on ours hands !!!
Choyyz !!!
“steve the not so nice guy”,
Care to comment on how Mugabe came to power in a similar fashion Chavez is doing right now? Or maybe you like dictators like Mugabe and soon-to-be-dictator Chavez?
You have just confirmed how essentially uninformed and confused you are.
Your words – “Most western nations are REPUBLICS, not a democracy.” ?
So by definition a republic cannot be a democracy you say ?
You’re in worse shape than I thought Mah. And you win the Wet Burger King Bag Award again – my unintelligent, fanatical friend !
“steve the not so nice guy”,
Most Western nations are REPUBLICS, not a democracy. America is a REPUBLIC and why the hell are you ignoring Chavez’s pen pal-Robert Mugabe who initated the same tactics to rise to power like his buddy Chavez is doing right now?
Wasn’t asking you Honey Chops – question directed to Trev. But since you touch how they both came in, doesn’t that mean that every democracy is suspect. Universally ?
You couldn’t argue your way out of a wet Burger King bag !
Hey “steve the not so nice guy”, Chavez’s Zimbabwean pen pal came in the same way as he did. Read some history of the former Rhodesian state for god shake.
Trev,
Pleased to read your thoughtful post above. It’s superior to BE’s because it deals in square realities. It doesn’t gratuitously invoke the overarching “truth” or “real situation”.
But, there are these questions:
Line 2 – re Castro, why is that ? Is there something in Latin American perceptions that has people behave so ?
Line 3 – why is that, that there is anti-US feeling ?
Line 4 – have the churches perceived a justness in “liberation”? Assuming yes, in that they see need for it, why ?
Chris-I think (as Bach Engineering says), it is partly poverty.
Partly its the respect many Latin Americans (across the political spectrum)have for Castro and his stand against the US.
Partly its the anti US feeluing, endemic in the region.
I also think the near total surrender of the Latin American Catholic Churches, to Marxist inspired “Liberation Theology”
Partly the hard work of the Sao Paolo Forum and the local CPs.
Partly luck.
“steve the not-so nice guy”,
You should be the one to grow up. You have no right to lecture me on how “grown up” I am, but knowing the history of how you “debate”, your kind haven’t grown up.
And please stop with the bullshit propaganda because I am downright tired of it. Calling Bush “chickenhawk” and other assorted propaganda terms. Pathetic and sad that you don’t care that Chavez wishes to be just like his pen pal-Mugabe from Zimbabwe.
Oh how these lesser humans do dine out on their grinding poverty !
Cheeky sods. That shouldn’t licence them to talk to Commies however.
Get real you self-centred, egocentric, nasty people. You live the life before you mouth-off from the relative paradise of your stuffy lounge !
As with the likes of Chickenhawk Bush who saw action in Palomino Drive, Palm Springs alone, you’re full of half-arsed prescriptions for the other guy.
Grow up !
There are different factors many Latin America Countries are voting for the leftists. The first one I believe is that most of them are poor, really poor. And because of this reason, they believe that someone promising or telling them that they are going to be taken out of their misery, is very much welcome. However, that is not the truth and because of lack of knowledge of the real situation they are choosing to go farther down the pit…

Why do you suppose so many Latin American countries are voting in leftists, Treovr?
Chris
No surprise of another Chavez mini-me doing the Communist dance like what Chavez is trying to be the next Fidel.
