In a story that predictably did not make the mainstream media, and with video surveillance very difficult to find, a massive mob of black teens viciously attacked white Temple University students, police officers and even a police horse in Philadelphia on Friday night.
And their apologists are in full force.
In the limited local coverage this story did receive, the race aspect was generally avoided. It is way past time to take back the media, and fill it with truth-tellers, not apologists.
“More than 150 teens, spread out in groups of 20 or 30, descended upon the campus at around 8:30 p.m. Friday — wreaking havoc for nearly two hours before eventually dispersing,” according to NBC 10. Temple News reported that “multiple students were hurt and businesses had to close Friday evening due to a ‘flash mob’ of nearly 200 minors that flocked North Broad Street near Main Campus, police said.”
But there is a reason for all of this horror, according to Solomon Jones of Philly.com. It evidently boils down to the socialist progressive canard “white privilege.”
The black teens are feeling excluded because evil white “others” have come into their neighborhood and built rental properties for college students, raising the property values of their neighborhoods in a way that evidently excludes the angry teens, who were used to having their blighted turf unmolested.
As observed by Solomon Jones:
“In a city where poverty is concentrated outside the universities, we can’t truly expect the poor to watch jobs and wealth and excess pass them by without any reaction at all.”
Jones’ comment reminds the author of a comment Obama made in 2008:
“We can’t drive our SUVs and, you know, eat as much as we want and keep our homes on, you know, 72 degrees at all times, whether we’re living in the desert or we’re living in the tundra, and then just expect every other country is going to say OK, you know, you guys go ahead keep on using 25 percent of the world’s energy, even though you only account for 3 percent of the population, and we’ll be fine. Don’t worry about us….”
The message is the same, isn’t it? Don’t be prosperous. Don’t live well.
Or expect retribution.
The flawed message is based on the false premise that Americans, particularly white Americans, are hoarding resources at the expense of the poor. It is reminiscent of the false premise pushed by the “Occupy Wall Street” crowd that the wealthy are hoarding money at the expense of the poor. Or the false premise of the communist “Black Lives Matter” movement that police are indiscriminately killing black Americans. The argument is patently absurd, but is a classic leftist argument.
The teens attacked police, terrorized businesses, and robbed and beat white university students and one even punched a police horse twice “in the face.” Additionally, “two Temple Police officers sustained injuries…one from a fractured hand.”
As reported at the New York Post,
In one incident, a female student named Christina Laulette was beaten to a bloody pulp and hospitalized after a group of youths ganged up on her and two others.
“Her and her 2 male friends where badly beaten by a group of 30-40 black teenagers on their way home from the Temple football game,” her father, Joe Lauletta, recalled in a Facebook post on Saturday night.

But Solomon Jones laments:
“But even when the physical scars are healed and justice is meted out, the distance that separates the impoverished black teens of North Philly from the white college students of Temple will remain.”
The victims of this night of terror will be scarred for life and the media covers up for their perpetrators.
