Bishop Robert Barron is an engaging and provocative speaker. I enjoy his sermons. But one of his mentors, Bishop Fulton Sheen, would not approve of his claim that Stalin’s communism is dead. Sheen is the key to revitalizing the Catholic Church and making it into an essential cog in the machine opposing the eventual victory of communism over the West.
Today, of course, the Roman Catholic Church is facilitating the victory of the forces that Bishop Sheen opposed.
In his sermon about the question of Jesus, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” Barron cites the unique nature of the query and claims that the longevity of the Roman Catholic Church means that the “rock” of St. Peter that was designated by Christ is still among us. But his assertion about how other empires have disintegrated over time, leaving the church in a position of dominance, ignores current realities.
The church itself was broken apart, most notably with the Protestant Reformation, and the Roman Catholic Church has been split apart yet again, with the traditionalist Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) declared to be in formal schism.
“Peter knows who Jesus is,” notes Barron.
But who is Muhammad? Well, Barron notes that Moses, Confucius, Buddha, and Muhammad did not claim to be God. Jesus is unique.
Allah had no son. Nevertheless, the followers of Muhammad, considered disciples of the pagan Moon god, constitute global Islam, the second-largest religion in the world. There are an estimated 2 billion Muslims worldwide. With the assistance of the KGB, they have become a communist terrorist weapon against the West. Hence, 9/11 and Iran’s war on the United States.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Review has published “Remembering 9/11,” by Archbishop William E. Lori, which fails to note that Islamic terrorists from Al Qaeda hijacked American airliners and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York, and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, killing 2,977 Americans, and injuring hundreds more.
Douglass R. Knight, a disabled Veteran of the Regular Army Infantry and National Guard Cavalry, alleges an Iranian connection to 9/11, a case supported by former CIA operations officer Clare Lopez.
Most importantly, writes Knight, one needs to understand that if they cannot achieve their ends through Jihad (“Holy War”), then they shall endeavor to do so through Hijra (i.e., immigration).
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), comprising over 50 Muslim-majority nations, represents the single largest voting bloc inside the U.N. General Assembly. Backed by petrodollars and ideological rigidity, the OIC has successfully weaponized UN human rights machinery to outlaw criticism of Islam, pass endless resolutions condemning Western democracies, and isolate Israel — treating the Jewish state as a perpetual scapegoat for global grievances.
In his sermon, Barron said that “Stalin’s communism,” like Hitler’s Reich and the Roman Empire, has turned to dust.
Regarding the alleged demise of Stalin’s communism, he needs to read our 2014 book, Back from the Dead: The Return of the Evil Empire. Meanwhile, as our book notes, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has been created as an alternative to Western institutions. The SCO has 10 member states: China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Iran, and Belarus.
Member states signed something called the Bishkek Declaration at the recent summit, denouncing “the unilateral and unlimited buildup of global missile defense systems by individual countries or groups of states” as having a “negative impact on international security and stability.”
That was an obvious attack on President Trump’s proposal for a “Golden Dome” of missile defense, a project compared to President Ronald Reagan’s 1980s Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI).
The original member states of another alliance, BRICS, were Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa later joining the group, and Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates are joining as well.
President Trump has warned BRICS nations that if they create a new BRICS currency, attempt to replace the U.S. dollar, or back any other currency to undermine its global dominance, they will face 100% tariffs and lose access to the U.S. market.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Church in America has grown amazingly, represented by Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the sole Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence, to become the largest single Christian denomination in the United States today.
Hence, the work of the popular Catholic Bishop Fulton J. Sheen is significant. He wrote the preface to Dr. Charles J. McFadden’s book The Philosophy of Communism, and Sheen himself wrote Communism and the Conscience of the West.
“I’ve been reading a lot of him recently,” Barron said of Fulton Sheen, noting he will be beatified soon by the church.
What is more, the church survives because the Vatican has unleashed the forces of war. For example, the Battle of Lepanto was a massive naval fight on October 7, 1571, in which a Catholic group called the Holy League beat the navy of the Ottoman Empire. The Holy League was organized by Pope Pius V.
Here’s what the Vatican says:
“October 7 is a memorable day in the annals of Western Europe. On that day in the year 1571, the powers representing Christian civilization united to defeat the colossal threat from the East in the battle of Lepanto. It is a day of thanksgiving commemorated in the calendar of the Church, not only because the sanctuaries of Europe and their altars were thus saved from utter destruction, but also because the prayers ordered by the then Pope St. Pius V were universally given a large share in the victory.”
We need another Holy League.
An all-day conference in St. Louis is scheduled on September 23, 2026, the eve of Sheen’s beatification, and features leading Catholic scholars, clergy, and evangelists on his legacy.
Sheen’s book, Communism and the Conscience of the West, came two years before communist Bella Dodd decided she needed a spiritual dimension in her life and converted. Sheen helped in Bella Dodd’s reconversion to the Catholic faith.
Bella Dodd herself wrote a book, School of Darkness, and testified before congressional committees about communism’s influence in American society, even describing communist infiltration of the Roman Catholic Church as designed to usher in a world government.
Until I read The Devil and Bella Dodd, I thought the greatest defector from communism was Whittaker Chambers, who fingered Alger Hiss as a communist spy for Soviet Russia and identified a communist network in the highest levels of the U.S. Government. But former high-ranking communist Bella Dodd, a teacher, lawyer, and union activist, exposed communist clergymen in the Roman Catholic Church and identified Lucifer, the fallen angel in the Bible (Isaiah 14:12-17), as being the agent of destruction.
The concept of “Lucifer” is considered by Christians to be the devil or Satan.
The implication of Bella Dodd’s statement is that a church representing more than 1.2 billion Catholics has been dangerously compromised by evil.
Where are the good Catholics who follow Fulton Sheen? They must evict the imposters in the Vatican and rediscover the “rock” of their faith.
The fate of the world depends on it.
