The socialists are taking over the Democratic Party, but they are already in firm control of the American branch of the Roman Catholic Church, which gave us “Obamacare,” the bankrupt health care scheme, and is now promoting open borders and LGBTQ ideology.
Even if the Democratic Party is defeated at the polls, the socialism of the Catholic Church will remain. They work hand-in-glove.
The power of the Catholic Church cannot be ignored. It is a bigger force for socialism than the Democratic Party.
I attended a local church in the Washington, D.C. area on Sunday and heard prayerful “intentions” for the victims of “climate change-inducing” wildfires and Haitians being “forced” to return to Haiti. Both claims are part of the “progressive” playbook and designed to undermine the America First policies of the Trump Administration.
In the church bookstore, I found a book, “A Home for All: A Catholic Call for LGBTQ Non-Discrimination.” The book’s back cover features an endorsement from retired Bishop Thomas Gumbleton of Detroit, who revealed that a priest molested him in the 1940s when he was a 15-year-old seminary student.
The church I visited is part of the Baltimore archdiocese, which is going bankrupt because of scandals involving boy lovers.
On a previous visit to the same church, the priest gave a homily touting “prison reform.”
The church once endorsed capital punishment but now favors complete abolition of the death penalty. Pope Francis had specifically prayed that the sentences of inmates on death row in the United States would be commuted or changed. It was a public display of mercy for saving the lives of child killers, a rapist, and a drug kingpin from execution.
In terms of major socialist initiatives popularized by the Catholic Church, the green new scam was overturned by President Trump, but it lives on in the Catholic Church.
Blaming smoke on “climate change” is a typical left-wing liberal theme and occurred when wildfires in Canada broke out and saturated much of the United States with toxic fumes. The church doesn’t want to blame forest mismanagement by tree-hugging liberal politicians.
The reference to Haiti concerns termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians and is designed to send them back to their own country.
Haiti, with a population of 11.4 million, is a black-ruled country located about 700 miles from Miami, Florida.
Joe Biden’s plan to admit thousands of Haitians became an issue in the 2024 campaign, when as many as 20,000 Haitian immigrants were discovered in Springfield, Ohio, a town of just 58,000.
The number of Haitian TPS beneficiaries grew from roughly 55,000 in January 2021 to over 340,000 by January 2025. By 2026, total Haitian TPS recipients and parolees exceeded 500,000.
“What was intended by Congress to be a temporary status has become, over time, a permanent, automatically renewed designation, with some countries being designated for TPS for decades despite changed country conditions,” a House report noted. “The Biden-Harris Administration vastly expanded this de facto amnesty to hundreds of thousands of new aliens, many of whom are in the country illegally.”
As part of the open borders approach, according to the report, hundreds of thousands of aliens were “illegally paroled” into the country by the Biden Administration into TPS in an attempt to indefinitely shield them from deportation. Overall, the number of aliens with TPS nearly quadrupled during the Biden-Harris Administration, adding 1,006,859 aliens in just four years.
I was in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, back in the early 1980s on a journalistic fact-finding mission, when the country was stable under the rule of Jean-Claude Duvalier. He was overthrown in 1986.
However, President Bill Clinton ordered U.S. troops under the U.N. to be deployed on a mission to restore to power the former Haitian president, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, a Catholic priest kicked out of his Catholic order for preaching violence. Aristide was known as an advocate of “liberation theology,” a mixture of Christianity and Marxism that still infects the church.
C.L.R. James’s book, The Black Jacobins, is a Marxist history of the Haitian Revolution, in which blacks supposedly gained their independence, thus “creating the world’s first free Black republic.”
Lenin had reportedly said the Jacobins were the Bolsheviks of the 18th century.
No wonder President Trump once called Haiti a “shithole” country.
Meanwhile, in Europe, a Catholic priest, Father Ángel García, the founder of the Messengers of Peace, told reporters that the migrants who illegally crossed into Spanish territory from Morocco are “saints.”
By contrast, the Trump Administration says it has carried out more than 3 million deportations, filed 88 denaturalization claims, removed illegal aliens from voter rolls in multiple states, and terminated taxpayer benefits for more than 1.4 million illegal immigrants.
A September 25-27 “pilgrimage” will seek “to bring together LGBTQ Catholics, allies and those who minister to them both in New York City and abroad” by praying at “important LGBTQ sites,” such as the Stonewall National Monument, the scene of anti-police riots at a Mafia-run gay bar.
I visited that “Stonewall Monument” in New York City and its visitor center, which featured photos and videos of men wearing lipstick and eyeliner, proclamations about a “gender-free” world, and books such as “What Does It Mean to be Queer?” and “What Brings You Queer Joy?”
Officially, the church opposes homosexuality, but the New Ways Ministry advertises “LGBTQ-Friendly Parishes & Faith Communities.”
The dominant cultural, political, and philosophical forces behind the American founding were overwhelmingly Protestant. Although it had very little influence in the founding of America and only one signer of the Declaration of Independence (out of 56), Charles Carroll of Carrollton, was a Catholic, the Catholic church has grown to the point where it is the largest religious denomination, making up roughly 50 to 70 million members.
Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are both Catholics.
However, Rubio has not criticized Pope Leo XIV, while Vance says that if the pope is going to offer his political opinion on matters of war and peace and cultural issues, “he’s got to be careful” and ensure it is “anchored in the truth.”
