Liberty and Society 2007

Strongly recommended. Many ACT on Campus people have spoken highly of these events.

From Michael Earley’s Blog

I just got my copy of the Centre for Independent Studies “Policy” mag which I plan to read over the next few days – it looks like it has some great articles, especially the winners of their essay competition on whether the governemnt should prevent people from putting themselves at risk (i.e. drug use, fatty foods, high risk activities and regulation).

Importantly though, on the inside back page are the dates for the Liberty and Society Conference, which will be held on the 13-15 of April 2007 in Sydney. I’d reccomend any liberal (be they from the left or the right) to attend, as its definatley a worthwhile experiance. I attended in August 2006, and know quite a few other kiwis who have gone in the past and found it great for developing their ideas and understanding of law, economics, politics and philosophy – as well as meeting future leaders from around Australia and New Zealand.

Scholarships are available for travel, accomodation and attendance.

Applications close on the 19th of March 2007 and are available at www.libertyandsociety.org or by phoning Jenny Lindsay on 0061 (2) 9438 4377.
