#StandWithCaleb: Student Caleb O’Neil suspended for filming professor’s anti-Trump tirade

Orange Coast College students, including those in the Feminist Club, rally in support of instructor Olga Perez Stable Cox during a campus rally in Costa Mesa, California, December 12, 2016. A video clip of Cox telling her human sexuality class that electing Trump was an act of terrorism has gone viral. A student said the teacher asked all Trump supporters to stand up so she could, “Show the class who to watch out for” (Photo by Jeff Gritchen, Orange County Register/SCNG)

Professor Olga Perez Stable Cox called Donald Trump a “white supremacist,” Mike Pence “the most anti-gay human being in the country,” and said “the election of Donald Trump was an act of terrorism.” A student said the teacher asked all Trump supporters to stand up so she could, “Show the class who to watch out for.”

But it is a student in her class, Caleb O’Neil, who was suspended for daring to record the Human Sexuality teacher’s unsolicited and over-the-top political propaganda.

The professor claims that she was a victim who received mean messages on social media after the video aired on the Bill O’Reilly show on Fox News.

As reported by the Washington Post,

“Her inbox and voice mail were filled with hundreds of threatening messages that referred to her as ‘libtard,’ ‘Marxist,’ ‘nutcase,’ ‘vile leftist filth’ and a ‘satanic cult member.’

The Orange Coast College “…ruled that they would be suspending Caleb for one full semester and one summer semester. Caleb will also have to write a 3 page essay on everything that happened with a separate apology letter for the professor, and if he returns to campus he will be put on Disciplinary Probation for a semester” according to a press release by Freedom X, who is representing Caleb in his appeal.

  1. My comments would address the rights of students for an unbiased and fair education. I cannot believe the school would stand behind someone who so obviously “hates” our President. It is morally wrong to taint these students with your obvious prejudice (s). This country has endured eight years of a president who has divided the country more than any president in history. There were no right wing fits thrown or protestors vandalizing buildings, stealing or fighting, or teachers violating ethics in order to push their beliefs on others, etc. even though many still feel the election was rigged. People simply got out and legally cast their vote for a new President. Now, all of a sudden, it seems you do not like our way of casting votes which seemed fine when Obama was elected. Can you say” Double Standard”? It was the majority of the conservatives, listen, the majority did not agree with you even though you claim you are the majority, and your actions are like the bully on the playground who did not get his way. You are a part of the problem and not the solution. Why should this young man be penalized for showing what you were teaching in class; do you not stand behind what you teach, or do you know what you are doing is wrong? You have every right to your opinions and beliefs, but that right stops when you start teaching it in the classroom and showing disrespect for our President whoever they may be, and this sets a bad example for the students. There will be many disappointments in life and everyone has to learn how to properly deal with them, so teachers have a huge responsibility to be a better example in showing students how to be a good sport, and giving them the necessary tools to be good losers.

    1. You said it better than any of the rest of us could. Thank you! People like this so-called “professor” must be confronted everytime they say seditious an anti-American things in a CLASSROM and any institution of “higher learning” (or ANY classroom, for that matter) that receives any public funding!

  2. The brainwashing at the high school and college level has to be stopped, schools are a place for discussion but the “intellectuals” have turned against America….
