Constitutional Conservatives Vs. The Trump Mob

Ted Cruz

In the beginning, like so many others, I wanted to like Donald Trump. I really did, until I started to really listen to what he had to say. Then I became uneasy… then worried… then alarmed… then convinced the man is not who he claims to be. He says just enough of the right things, so that you overlook all the really egregious things he puts forth.

It’s more than true that Americans are fed up with corrupt elitists on both sides of the political aisle. It is what has driven so many to Donald Trump. It is also true as this lady put it: “There’s nothing short of Trump shooting my daughter in the street and my grandchildren — there is nothing and nobody that’s going to dissuade me from voting for Trump.” Really? Careful what you wish for. This fight is no longer just between the establishment and Republicans… it is also between constitutional conservatives and the Trump mob. There are those of us who very much object to what Trump stands for in certain areas. We are for closing the border and stopping the refugee resettlement program… but we are also for gutting Obamacare and stopping Planned Parenthood. We are for smaller government, less taxation, the Constitution and the rule of law. We are not ‘flexible’ as Donald Trump now says he is. We are conservatives.

This is a fight for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. People would love to see Trump smack the establishment and media around, but I’m far from certain that is what he will do. Conservatives have one more chance to get this right and that means electing Ted Cruz. That will rock the Republicans even more. He’s the only one who can right this ship. Trump is now saying that Cruz is too strident on stopping illegal immigration. He’s shifted his stances so much and so often he has everyone confused. Romney’s speech was reprehensible… but that doesn’t mean that Donald Trump should be president. He’s not inevitable and this is now a two man race… between a conservative and a Progressive. Who will you choose?

    1. Yes, by running a liberal, I’m sure we can get liberal votes.

It’s not just about winning. It’s about putting the country back on the right course. Nominating a liberal just so we can ‘win’, accomplishes nothing.

And it’s not even clear that Trump can win. There’s a sizable portion of the base that will not turn out for him.

      1. I am beginning to think, to Trump supporters, it is all about Trump; not winning, any longer!

The polls have shown Trump losing to both Hillary and Bernie for weeks, but Trump supporters refuse to believe it. They don’t believe his 62%-65% unfavorable rating.

The Obama supporter mind set of 2008, is the Trump supporter mind set of 2016. The only thing that may change it, is if he starts losing more of the primaries.

    1. Whoa, my apologies, that was in fact the close out filing from last cycle, not a new filing. When you look at the actual filing it lists Romney/Ryan instead of just Romney. Again, my humble apologies for passing the article on without first checking.

  2. The title of this article including the words “…Trump mob,” is exactly who the supporter are. They are of the most vicious sort, quick to accuse, insult and badger. Every visit to Breitbart on any of the comments show complete incivility, bordering on what is expected from left-wing activists. For example, today Ben Shapiro, editor at large there, explained why he would never vote for Trump. The torrent of comments against Shapiro by Trump supporters are heavy on hate, light on reasoning. Trump and his supporters really are just a mob.

    1. Wow, that sounds a lot like the commentary Nancy Pelosi had about the Tea Party, well minus the swastika armbands. Do you not understand the hatred coming from all sides toward Trump and anyone who supports him? Do you not understand why staunchly conservative Senator Sessions endorsed Trump instead of Cruz? But more than that, do you not understand that no matter who the people choose, the establishment GOP is going to put in THEIR choice. And as long as their status quo is maintained, they do not give a rip whether it’s Romney or Clinton. They do not want Cruz or Trump.

      1. Trump is only getting endorsements from those willing to sell their souls to the devil, as he’s paying each and every one of them for those endorsements. Anti-establishment? MY FOOT. Trump is as establishment as establishment can be without stepping onto the grounds of Capitol Hill. Cruz is the one who is anti-establishment, when he receives only from Congress members who are conservative and are for the preservation of the constitutional rights of the people, because they know that DT will not preserve them. That is ALSO why Ted Cruz is only receiving FOUR endorsements out of the Senate, instead of the full endorsement of all Senate members. Nice try; no cigar.
