An open letter to the Bundy family

Dear Bundy Family and fellow patriots,

Like so many events that have taken place in the past decades culminating in the Obama administration and bulldozing over us at a breakneck pace in the past several years; the path to tyranny is more and more clearly laid out in front of us.

After I read the article posted at the New York Times today, I felt as if I had been punched in the stomach.

This is nothing less than horrifying:

The ranchers, Dwight Hammond, 73, and Steven Hammond, 46, said they had lit the fires in 2001 and 2006 to reduce the growth of invasive plants and to protect their property from wildfires.

The two were convicted of arson three years ago and served time — the father three months, the son one year. But a judge ruled that their terms had been too short under federal law and ordered them back to prison for about four years each.

The injustice is palpable.

With every executive order, with every declaration that police are racist, with every politician blaming “the wealthy” for their own failed programs, with every news article portraying Christians and patriots and veterans as terrorists, with rampant illegal immigration and inexplicable support to welcome unvetted young men from war zones, with the ongoing injustice to people like you – ranchers in the west – Americans are being poked.

With every fresh offense, the poke gets stronger and an unimaginable voice gets louder… Is this where we need to fight? Is there another way or is it too late? Is this what Thomas Jefferson meant when he referred to the “natural manure?”

Please Bundy family and friends, the ongoing sickening injustices are not going unnoticed by so many Americans all over the country. You may not see this because you have been fighting this lonely battle for such a long time (and I KNOW you have [after much research]; what has happened to your family and other ranchers is nothing short of vile) that you may look at things with an urgency which is not there yet.

Let me repeat. We are close to helping you and the Hammonds’ and the other families. Justice WILL be restored. We WILL get our country back and it is not yet time. I implore you to hold on just a bit longer. I beg you to stand down for just a while longer. We are closer to true freedom than we have ever been.

But that freedom, as it always is, is fragile and tenuous. Well-intentioned patriots firing just one shot could discourage and even reverse the new-found passion so many Americans have for the Constitution.

Consider, friends, there has not been a time in recent decades when Americans have had a clearer picture of their rights and their history, thanks in part to the radical left overplaying their hand. They have unwittingly done us a favor.

Americans are blessed at this delicate time in history to enjoy presidential candidates who discuss the Constitution in debates and in speeches around the country. If we band together and elect a president who dedicates himself to aggressively dismantling this behemoth government, we can and will make miracles happen. We WILL undo this damage. We will fight loudly for the West, in particular, to have their land restored to them so that they can mine and farm and graze their way back to prosperity. America is so close to being that shining city on a hill again.

This is why I beg you, friends, stand down for now.

  2. This is not the first time this has happened to Oregon ranchers and farmers. The conflict with the Federal government has been never ending throughout the reign of George H W Bush, Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama. Twenty-four years. Congress? They had the opportunity to amend the Endangered Species Act and failed due to the Establishment Republicans including Speaker Gingerich, who in my opinion are worse than Democrats.This is clearly an attack on the people who believed in the US Constitution.

    It began during the Nixon/Ford regime with the adoption of the Endangered Spices Act, followed by Carter, Reagan, George H W Bush who signed the Rio Accords (Agenda 21 Sustainable Development.) It will all boil down to the 2016 election. We already know what Hillary, Bush, Florina, Christie, Rubio, Kaisch and others will say and do if they get elected to office, Nothing will Change. So what will Cruz and Trump do?

    Bundy accomplished his most important act and that was to bring this issue to the forefront in the media. Beyond that he will accomplish nothing, but to destroy any hope of resolving this matter Constitutionally and selecting a President who will FIRE BLM employees for intimidation and extortion. The answer is and remains at the ballot box.

  3. There are Americans across the country watching this. There are people who will also stand up against this Marxist Administration. The government has been steadily moving to the Political Left for many decades regardless of who is in power. That should tell you that we have a one party system masquerading as a two party system to fool the people while we are dragged to the Left. This rise up against government tyranny in Oregon is just the tip of the iceberg of citizen unrest. The reason why Obama wants to take our guns is so that the Marxists can usher in a Revolution with more success. Americans are not like Europeans or Asians or South Americans who succumb to tyranny. Americans will not give up their freedom, their dignity and their country to any enemy foreign or domestic.

  4. I have kept up on the Bundy situation, the mining incident and now this and my concern is heightened every time a new situation crops up. These are very trying times in America and people are on edge. It is my concern that somewhere the first shot will be fired and give our President the opportunity to cite civil unrest and call out his militia. He will then declare that we cannot hold an election in times of civil unrest and he will stay in office. You can bet he has a plan and not one we are going to like. We must be careful whatever we do.

Presumably, Renee Nal wrote the piece ‘submitted’ by that name: The photo included at the top of the article was probably taken at the Bundy Ranch in Nevada last year when the unarmed Bundy family and friends faced down the armed federal people sent there to throw the Bundy’s off their land. The feds succeeded in killing a bunch of Bundy cattle before they left. At that time I lived for days with the pit-of-the-stomach reality of that confrontation and what it meant to the rest of us who could NOT go stand with the family but were home praying until the feds backed down. So this is not the first time Ammon Bundy has taken on the giant. And it is not only for the Hammond’s that Bundy and company are taking a stand in Oregon. I seriously doubt we have time to wait for the 2016 election to fix the mess we are in. My bet is there will be no violence unless the government fires first. Unless of course a provacateur is in the occupation’s midst. Joanne-grace Alden

    1. Yes, I am Renee Nal & I wrote this along with many articles about the Bundy Ranch in 2014. My position is not that we should roll over, friend. Believe me, I get that we are in a grave situation. I think I pretty much laid out how I feel above, but I am happy to hear and consider your thoughts. We are all on the same side.

  6. Thank you Trevor. For those words of encouragement. BLM is an unconstitutional and tyrannical agency stealing land from Americans. It needs to be abolished!

STAND DOWN Bundy and crew!!…you think you are helping but the truth of the matter is you are making things WORSE!…even the Hammonds (who you THINK you are helping) are not happy about how you are handling this!….STAND DOWN NOW before you reach the point of no return and make things harder for the rest of us!!

    1. Yes stand down and allow the government to ruin lives. You are a disgrace if you never stand up to a bully you will always get the short end. More people need to stand up and be heard.

  8. I read up on the history of these ranchers earlier today. I was so upset I had to stop reading. How can this happen in our great country? Farmers &Ranchers are the heart of the US!! The people in the government agencies that have done their best to destroy this family should all be fired!! I pray we can last one more year until a true Patriot is elected!!
    PRAYERS for the Hammonds family please be strong & brave.
    God please be there for these people, guard them and keep them safe. Amen

The letter is perfectly written as I sit here reading, my blood boiling over and every irrational thought screaming for me to yell out I also know that perhaps like never before how true your words are. I think about what kind of monster is it that can look a parent in the eye with their son in a coffin just feet away and lie to them. I also know a civil uprising is what this administration is begging for. Things will continue to get much worse as this election cycle draws near an end. I for one will not forget the actions taken by those who were elected to stop this tyrannical government. I to ask that you stand down and reconvene at a later date that any such actions will do good not harm.

    1. We the People MUST unite peacefully. Now is not the time for violence or force. But all I’m asking for is the next 10 days. Let them know we are watching them. Take names. Our chance to straighten things out is coming.

    2. So I see, Get the Hammonds out of the way by imprisonment. Take over their property that the wife can’t control on her own.

      1. If she needs help on the ranch until the men get home, we as patriots should step up and go work it for her. I would for free.
